Not what I thought...
Nov 8, 2006

Okay, this two and a half hours without Michael 5 days a week is not turning out like I hoped it would *sigh.* First of all I am sooooooooo not a morning person =_= So, while I am getting up earlier than I use to, I'm not liking trying to write when I just feel like going to bed. Soooo a lot of what I've been doing instead is research and story building rather than story writing. Also a lot of reading being done too (I'm well aware that's an incomplete sentence).

First part of what I forgot about, right in the middle of those five days are my husband's days off, the only time we get alone together. So, I have Monday to do this, distractions for Tuesday and Wednesday and then Thursday and Friday are alone time again. Not much there to try and create a habit with *sigh.*

I've been doing quite a bit of editing and market research though, which I suppose is good.

Anyhow, writing aside, Michael is doing pretty well in school. He started off rocky, we had problems with him doing everything he was being taught at home for Delos and I, but we'd get notes home from his teacher saying he needed more practice doing this or that or that he couldnt' count past two. Figured out for starters, that he mumbles in school and doesn't talk very clearly. It was extremely difficult for me to hear him at his Halloween party, and not because it was loud, but because instead of looking at me and speaking clearly, he'd play with his mouth and mumble, as though he was trying to keep everyone else from hearing his answer. He's also very uncertain in the class room, hesitant to do things we know he can do. Things have gotten better since we've had talks about it and cleared up that it's not a learning problem but something a few other things we need to work on (we being not only Delos and I but school staff too), it helps that they now realize fully that this is his first time in a school-like enviroment. He's outgoing on the playground, everyone is his friend, but stick him in a group of kids in a learning enviroment and he's unsure of what he's suppose to do, even though he knows answers and how to do what the adults are asking. He's been improving a lot. HOWEVER, he has missed quite a bit of school due to colds here and there since the beginning of October. He hasn't been to school in 5 days now. First of all, we start with the weekend, where he doesnt' have school, he missed Monday because he had a bad cough, there was no school Tuesday, and he still wasn't feeling 100% today, I'm hoping he can get back into the swing of things on Thursday (tomorrow) BUT he has no school Friday either. He's getting better, so as long as he doesn't take a mysterious turn backwards, he should be good to go tomorrow. We can work on his learning in the meantime, but he's missing the school enviroment part that he really needs to get use to.

On another part of the news, today is the last day of Delos' vacation. But we've both been feeling a bit under the weather ourselves *wan smile* So while I enjoyed his not having to go to work, as did Michael, I do wish I'd had the energy to make sure the house was comfortably clean during it. Now that I'm feeling a bit better, I hope to get to cleaning things up tomorrow while Michael is at school. Not that it's a disaster area, but it's at the stage where the clutter can add to stress. I should have the house cleaned all up tomorrow provided I start as soon as Michael goes to school and finish before he gets home. I have the misfortune of adopting an anti-cleaning attitude when there are people home. The presence of others, whether they're out of the way or even helping me clean tends to irritate me for some reason. If they clean while I'm away or if I clean when I'm alone I actually enjoy myself (though I feel guilty if they've cleaned a lot while I'm gone). I enjoy cleaning when the house is empty and hate it when there are other humans around (messy animals interfering can sometimes annoy, but they're small enough that if they aren't making messes behind me while I clean, then I'm fine).

I so wish Michael had gotten the afternoon kindergarten slot *sigh* Neither of us are morning people. Ah well, guess it gets me use to when he'll be in first grade and beyond.
