Apr 20, 2007
Sing it loud!
Sing it strong!
For today you can't sing wrong!
It's the day
You've been wai---
ting for your whole life long!
I want to wish
you the best
on this new holiday
without rest.
From now on 20 days
Into April are so special
Make up songs
Make up dance
Don't worry
looking silly
Is the comedy-ically best!
What's this day?
What'd you say?
This day is so...hooray!
Now I'll tell you...
*pause*
Yes, I'll tell you...
Happy 1st Living in a Musical Day!
*fireworks and does an elaborate dance during the percussion pretties*
Okay, so it's hokey, but that's the point of today, which my son and I have declared "Living in a Musical Day" the one day of the year where you can break into song suddenly and or dance about everyday things, where you can sing your conversations if you want. No need to be professional (honestly, did you *read* my song up there *points up* far from professional, and off the cuff), sing to any tune, sing off key, no need to dance with style either, after all, there are musical comedies too :P
So hurry up, get to singing, get to dancing, get to all that funny prancing! And I look forward to celebrating, celebrating, celebraaaaaate! Happy Musical Day next yeeeeeaaaar (and this one too of course ^^")!
*lights go off at the last note and she flings herself into a dramatic collapse pose*
On a more serious note...Here's a little about why...
I suppose I'm in a bubbly mood today, but I intend to do this every year, even if it is nothing more than a family tradition (can't wait 'til my husband gets home so I can make him raise an eyebrow at my wierdness). Life is too serious, one day to just act like you're in one big musical sounds like so much fun, not to mention therapeutic as well. Then again, I love to sing, and believe that even if you don't have a good voice, singing with your heart anyway can be therapeutic for you as well.
The history of the date...well, since it is the first one it happened today. I felt bubbly wth music and knew my 5-year-old would get a kick out of me singing his choices for lunch, singing a silly conversation to him while making it, etc. He did, but it was a partial...what in the world are you doing mom? with a laugh, he didn't know how to sing just anything and so he just got a kick out of me doing it at first, but pretty soon he was singing his replies back. Not anything remotely publishable, but it sure was fun! That's when I decided we'd make it a point to do this every year, and while I was at it I wanted to share the wierd fun with all of you! So there, you have it.
