Back to School
Feb 20, 2008
No, not my son this time, me. I Went snooping around online colleges and found one called Ashford University. So, I'm going back to school to get my BA in psychology. I had originally wanted to get my BA in linguistics, but you can't do that online. The reality is, if I waited for that BA, I'd probably have to start college all over again, move and a whole mess of other things.
The class layout is rather interesting too. Rather than having several classes, you take one class at a time here. Each class lasts five weeks and their aren't any finals! You have to write a lot, but the largest paper due is 7 pages. I got my books yesterday and have already started reading. My class starts the 26th of this month.
I was a little nervous at first (as well as excited of course!), but now that I have my books the nervousness is gone. My first course is one Ashford requires of all their students. It's called Adult Development, if memory serves. Apparently, it's all about adult development (of course) and ourselves (the students) in particular. It is supposed to help us figure out how we learn, what our optimal learning times are among many other things to help us succeed in school. I think it's a good idea for a first course.
Anyhow, that's the major update in my life for now. I'm thinking it's quite likely I'll start blogging more often. One of our books, LifeLaunch by Frederic M. Hudson and Pamela D. McLean suggests we keep a running journal while we read. I may just keep that running journal right here.
