COMPANIONS

TEMPEST
Tempest
Tempest was Saronai's first companion, back when she was a wild druid, the mysterious silver ghostwolf showed up to guide her. The two traveled several millennia together, not even the emerald dream separated them, as they slept together. When Saronai finally found her way to more kaldorei, the wolf disappeared, only to reappear several decades later to accompany her in her exile from the druidic path. Tempest disappeared again, without notice early in Saronai's 38th season as a huntress. Though she misses her dearly, Saronai is sure she will see her again.

ARROW
Arrow
Arrow was a fast and loyal companion after Saronai defended the wounded owl from a pack of Felwood wolves. Eager to please, the silvery owl is fast and fierce in battle and well behaved and courteous in mixed company. He obeys Saronai's wishes, sometimes without her even vocalizing them. His quick and concise exercising of her commands lended the name "Arrow" quite readily.

UNNAMED
Yang
The only animal that Saronai has actually purchased, she got him on extreme discount due to his wild nature. She now has him tamed into a pampered coward who flees from battle, which is forgiveable since he was meant to be a traveling animal, not a fighting companion.

DUNE'ADAH
Duneadah
A funny companion for a Dragon Hunter, but like so many of Saronai's other companions, Adah, as she calls her affectionately, chose to travel with the huntress. It does not seem to bother the tiny emerald whelpling (whose name means "Malachite" in Darnassian) that her mother figure hunts and skins dragons. She snuggles Saronai affectionately whenever she gets the chance and loves playing with all the animals. Adah is quite the mischievious one, and although she won't bite strangers, she has great fun nipping playfully at the other companions. Saronai had found the little whelpling struggling from her shell in some bushes in the Swamp of Sorrows.

TIRNAG
(Teer-nah)On a tip from the huntress, Myela, Saronai went seeking Olm the Wise in Felwood. A journey into the tainted woods that she expected to last several days, barely lasted one as he suddenly appeared before her the second night (she started at night). After speaking awhile with him, one of Olm's daughters, Tirnag (Peach child), came forward to accompany Saronai on her journeys, in exchange Saronai promised to do all she could to cleanse Felwood and aid the Cenarion Circle.

AL'SHAR ALAH'NI
(Ahl-shar-Ah-lah-nee;)The very first animal that Saronai befriended by choice. Being very partial to cats, Saronai's breath was quite taken away when she saw the beautiful Winterspring Saber stalker. Rather than waiting for the cat to attack her, Saronai went to great lengths to befriend her. The situation worked out perfectly and today Al'shara (Whose name means Opaline Blossom in Kaldorei) is Saronai's most loyal animal companion (not counting Tempest for reasons that will be revealed soon).

CHARACTER DESCRIPTION

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION
Saronai has a very calm appearance, even in battle. She studies everything around her with a quiet patience. Her face is as ageless as any of the kaldorei, not lending itself to readily guess her age. Her dark emerald hair is left long and loose, all except for a half-inch thick braid that starts behind her left ear and extends to her hip, usually hanging in front, over her shoulder. A silver and white flight feather decorates the end of the braid. Her armor is usually kept fairly clean and she is rarely seen in anything other than her traveling gear. On her left hand is a silver ring that looks like three thin bands intertwined into one.

VOICE

PERSONALITY
Normally calm and quiet, Saronai can also be loud and passionate when she gets riled up. Things rarely surprise her as she has seen and done much in her life. Discrimination and intolerance, especially when it comes to love, is something guaranteed to anger her. She prefers the company of her animal companions to other humanoids so she will go weeks in the wilds with just them for company. As such, she may say and do many things in cities and mixed company that aren't necessarily all that socially acceptable, though she remains quiet, studying everything around her for the most part. Despite all this, she is rather friendly and even plays the mandolin, having done so for a few crowds now and then. She is steadfastly loyal to those she cares about and is always there to listen when a friend just needs someone to talk to. She loves to cheer people up, but her approach is to help them feel better through communication, rather than actions. Her friends often seek her out for advice even though she rarely offers solutions, but instead helps them come to the best course of action on their own, throwing in the occasional thoughts that may not have occurred to them alone, lending the pros and cons of each decision. As such she is rather uncomfortable telling people what to do and making decisions for them.

HISTORY

JUST A TASTE OF UTOPIA
The first seven years of Saronai's life were spent in a childhood that took place in Utopia. She was born to the Quel'dorei sorceress, Restar'linea and the kaldorei druid, Tunal'festin Silver-Leaf near the palace of Queen Azshara. Restar and Tunal met back in a time before a line was drawn between them, when they were both just kaldorei. However, as the years went on, Restar clearly craved the powers of the well, while Tunal was wary of them. Completely ignorant of the situations at hand, Saronai did not understand the increasing arguments of her parents as her mother drifted further apart from them in the service of Queen Azshara.

One day, when Restar left to take her place among Queen Azshara and the rest of the Quel'dorei, researching and heavily using the magics of the well, she did so for the last time. Tunal followed her around the house as she was preparing, but she ignored all of his warnings and pleas. After giving her daughter a distracted hug, she left without a word to either of them that day. Furious, Tunal stormed around their house, packing things and muttering worries and anger that set Saronai to crying. Hearing his young daughter's distress, Tunal stopped at once, finished packing and came to comfort her. In the end, father and daughter left the grand city together, tears still streaming down Saronai's face.

Resolved and driven, Tunal ignored all who spoke to them, shifting into the form of a large cat, he helped his daughter climb onto his back, packages secured to his back already. Once Saronai had a decent grip on him, he took off at top speed. That was the last day any of the elves would see either of them for centuries.

A TIME OF ISOLATION
Saronai and her father traveled weeks in silence, through forest and into mountains, managing to stay out of too much danger on the way. They stopped at last when they reached the oceans far to the southwest of Azshara. It was there they took shelter in an abandoned cave not far from the shore, the trees surrounding the cave making it the perfect haven.

It was there her father raised her, teaching her the ways of the druid, forbidding her to use the bits of magic Restar had tried to teach her. When the world shook, the sky blackened and the seas raged, her father insured their safety from it all with a calm and knowing sadness. After his initial silence, Tunal made certain to be entirely truthful with his young daughter. So when the invisible wave of force hit during the storm and quakes, not only did Tunal guess what had happened, but he did not hold anything back from his daughter. He could never have guessed the fate of Azshara and her followers (Restar included), however, he was fairly sure anyone still near the well was dead. The war leading to the explosion was beyond them, since they had left long before the invasion began.

Not in any hurry to survey the wreckage, Saronai and her father spent centuries isolated in that little cove. Eventually building a small farm and a warmer shelter from the elements they could now feel effecting them. Tunal taught Saronai the ways of primitive druidism and anything else he knew, even about the ways of her culture, her mother, the politics he knew of at the time. There were surely survivors and he did not want his daughter to be too disadvantaged if she were to ever re-enter society of any kind.

Not even a millenia later (approx. 9,000 years ago), a series of temperature extremes became too much for Tunal and he fell ill. It had surprised him, though he knew it had to be the destruction of the well that made him vulnerable to such things. Worried about the ghosts of the past, as well as his daughter, he made her promise she would keep her past a secret; keep her parents a secret. It was not long before Tunal expired from his illness, leaving Saronai alone in their little home. She buried him near the crops, realizing she was not going to be able to stay here for all the memories. As she thought about what she was going to do without her father a silver wolf parted from the shadows to sit a few feet away.

Neither spoke, but as Saronai left the haven to explore the world outside of it, the wolf followed. Together the pair traveled, taking their time to explore their surroundings. Tempest, as the wolf called herself, made a loyal and valiant companion for the wild druid. They had many adventures together, spanning a few millennia without laying eyes on any other elves. Though highly nomadic, the pair would spend several centuries in various homes over the years, not in any particular hurry to leave any new area. Under Tempest's guidance, Saronai was learning the ways of more advanced druidism as they went. The strangest part for Saronai was the farther north she traveled, the stronger she felt. Tempest remained very secretive about the reasons.

ISOLATION'S END
Several decades passed (now approx. 7,600 years ago), introducing Saronai to the first semblance of civilized humanoids she'd met since leaving Azshara's city. A small island village off the coast of northern Desolace, inhabited by a tribe of trolls, welcomed Saronai and Tempest. Wary from previous encounters with these tusked humanoids, it took Saronai awhile to trust any of them. However, though a language barrier existed between them, the small tribe began to prove itself repeatedly friendly. As the trolls aged in appearance (the eldest dying of old age) and Saronai didn't, she began to be set apart again. Though instead of being a strange outsider, she became a revered figure-head of sorts. Despite Saronai's motions to assure otherwise (now that she could speak their language) the small village, began to look upon her and Tempest as near-deities. Though uncomfortable with such a position, Saronai and Tempest did their part to nourish nature in the area, using druidic and shamanistic powers to heal the earth and make the island tribe's life rich and bountiful. They even taught the tribal shamans, learning from them in turn.

THE DREAMS
One night, while dreaming, Saronai was approached in her dreams by a great dragon. As a druid, however wild, she was promised greater magics to help nature in need, immortality and all of the resistances to illness, the elements and disease that her ancestors had enjoyed. In exchange, she had to do as all other druids, and enter a realm called the Emerald Dream from time to time, a dream which would last several years, perhaps even centuries at a time. Despite her misgivings, for which the Dragon came up with very convincing counterpoints (such as Tempest being able to enter the dream as well with her), Saronai agreed. Her largest concern was for the trolls who had adopted her into their own clan, despite her odd appearance. The Great Dragon assured her that the trolls would be taken care of, so long as she remained among them, their crops would prosper, the weather would be fair, and they would be blessed. Upon waking the next morning, she approached the elders of the troll village she stayed in, elders she had seen grow from babes to old age in the time she'd spent here. Arrangements were made and Saronai was given an honorable place of rest and protection during her long periods of sleep.

Everytime Saronai entered the emerald dream, she woke up to expectant troll faces she did not quite recognize. She walked among these descendents of the ancestors she had known, battling legends, myths and belief that she was an ancient deity. Every new awakening made it harder to convince the people around her to consider her as the original villagers had, kin, and not a sacred ruler or worse, the deity of nature. For the most part, she spent her wakeful moments teaching, helping, and still learning from the trolls, kept gentle and peaceful from their lack of hardships. Not far into this existence, Saronai decided it might be necessary to conceal the island from shore and ship. She had not run into many other humanoids in her lifetime, but she knew stories from her father. If the island was discovered, the people would know strife, they would know war. The richness of soil, plantlife and more would make it very tempting to any outsider looking in. It was then that the island was concealed, with the help of Tempest, the village shamans and nature itself. Population had grown, but it was never a policy to seek unions outside the village in the first place, so all the villagers considered this act a further blessing to their people.

Upon her next waking from the Emerald Dream, she'd become permanently shrouded in legend, the sleeping deity of nature and every generation that experienced her waking was considered blessed beyond compare, some of the beliefs of her times of wakening made her blush with embarassment and puzzle over greatly. The status troubled Saronai and just before her re-entrance to the emerald dream that time, she'd managed to get herself seen as a friend and get the sacred oaths of protection some took over her sleeping form, to disinclude any sort of worship as well. Her message was to thank the real gods, the dragons, nature itself.

During the entire time, Saronai had only ever felt romantic love for one, after she was forced to sleep again, knowing he would pass as she did so, she kept herself from that level of caring for another again. He had lived during her fourth wakening, and their decendents had become the leaders from that point on, eventually transforming the island into something resembling a monarchy rather than a tribe ruled by a council of elders as in times past.

THE LAST DREAM
She was awakened abruptly from the Emerald Dream, unexpectedly and early. It was the last time she would have entered it. She blinked the sleep from her eyes to see a group of bedraggled warrior who looked...like her, no tusks, smooth features, glowing eyes. She sat upright in a panic and looked around her. The elves spoke to her in words she no longer understood, her own language, evolved over so many years into something she could not speak. All she saw, lying all around her were the dead bodies of her people, the trolls who had taken oaths to protect her sleeping form, the king, who looked so much like his ancestor, her husband during the fourth wakening. She watched as the bodies were treated cruelly, one elf spit on her kin and smiled at her. The tears of anger clouded her vision and she felt a feral spirit overwhelm her, surge through her as she contributed to the violence.

She came to her senses outside the temple, a few more of the invaders lying about on the ground, her hands transformed into massive claws that were covered in their blood. They had killed everyone. She couldn't understand it. The invaders had found their way to the island, her people defended, her protectors died for her defense. Why had they come only to make war? She searched through their things and had found nothing she understood.

In the end, she burned the bodies of the invaders in a sacred fire, a symbolic transforming of their remains, a purification process of sorts for thier misdeeds. She took to the grisly task of burying the remains of her kin so they might feed the earth and continue life after their own demise. Though her protectors trained, even they never stood a chance against an outside force such as this, even largely outnumbered as the invaders were. All of the invaders were like her, tuskless, though their eyes no longer glowed.

She left the island when it was done, haunted by her failure. In the end, she knew they all thought her a deity again, whether or not worship was still performed. That was the worst failure of all, to be thought of so highly and sleep through the whole thing. After several years of wandering, feeling souless and unable to stand the memories and nightmares any longer, Saronai contrived a spell to wipe her memory clean (For her, suicide was never an option it was an idea she was both scared of and found revolting). She knew, it had to include every memory, everything she had learned and experienced since discovering the island and its inhabitants, so she would not wonder what had happened and go seeking them out. The spell was stronger than intended and wiped every memory she ever had except her instincts as a protector of nature, her druidic abilities that seemed ingrained into her very being. Even language, for the most part, was lost to her.

THE NEW START

FORBIDDEN LOVE

THE HUNTRESS

PRESENT DAY
Saronai currently travels under the banner of the Sunpath Riders. She has not given up hope of finding Orsini or her daughter and has even recently taken to spending time in the Drunken Kodo during some friendly horde meetings there, hoping to see them. Though Dieb'Anar and Bubbalishus have left the Riders circle, her oath to them still stands, and she takes it very seriously. In fact, the recent oath to them and certain current circumstances have renewed her thirst for information on her husband and daughter.

Character Description

Physical Description:
Rena almost always wears a smile on her face, whether it's playful, happy, mischievious, smug or amused is up to the moment. Her strawberry-blonde hair is pulled into a stylishly messy bun, with a thin braid trailing from behind each ear to her hips. A small flight feather decorates the end of each braid, starting red at the base and blending into yellow at the tip. Her emerald eyes twinkle playfully, calling attention to her most unusual feature. Unlike other humans, Rena's eyes have no pupils, instead, a dark green spiral swirls toward the center, lending a slightly hypnotic quality if one stares too long. When in close contact with her one catches, a noticeable, though not overpowering, scent of oil and machinery, weakened significantly by the smell of fresh air (similar to the blend of refreshing scents one might experience while walking through the elven forests where Rena spends a great deal of her time).

Voice
The pitch of Rena's voice is best described as cute, without being annoying. If she were to sing you'd likely hear a lower soprano...but don't ask her to sing! It's not her forté and can occasionally be off key, her singing voice might have been cute when she was 7, but not anymore. She bears an obvious accent, making it very difficult for her to pronounce common sounds like "th" she does not have as big a problem with "ch" and "sh", though none of those sounds exist in her native tongue. She also will occasionally switch her d and t sounds, her short i (as in "in") and short e (as in "hen") sounds. She also pronounces almost all of her a's the same way, rarely using the short a sound (as in "cat"), for the most part pronouncing them as short o's (as in "ball").

Personality
Renawyn is upbeat and not afraid to speak her mind, normally doing so without reservation, even if what she's saying makes sense only to herself. She is an outgoing and very happy-go-lucky individual who puts a lot of energy into everything she does. She has a tendency to take missions and objectives seriously, but not without a sense of fun and humor overall. Many have dismissed her as frivolous, but they do not take the time to discover the deeper individual underneath. She has a tendency to be very loyal to those she cares for and is good at cheering people up (those who don't like the ever-cheerful may find her annoying). "She's extremely loving and affectionate; you can always count on Rikku for support. This is evident by the way she talks to people when they're upset and by her actions towards others. Rikku is the type of person to give you a hug when you're depressed, even if she's never seen you before. Rikku is very selfless and constantly puts others before herself." She hates stereotypes, discrimination and prejudice, and dislikes when others follow beliefs blindly, without thinking for themselves.

History

Prelude to Azeroth
Renawyn was born under the name Rikku into an outcast society called the Al Bhed on the world known as Spira. Her home world is plagued by a dangerous being known as "Sin" along with the vengeful spirits of its victims and various spawn from it's core being known as "fiends" and "sin spawn." (Sin generally appears as a large, watery and formless blob, bigger than any city, its fiends taking on various forms of all kinds.) Her people are more or less reviled as heathens for ignoring the religious teachings of Yevon, the path believed to finally rid the world of Sin. The Al Bhed rely heavily on machina (machines), something forbidden by Yevon as a beacon that draws Sin. No stranger to prejudice and discrimination from the other races of Spira, Rikku worked to restore respect for her people, directly opposing herself to the blind followers of Yevon.

She begins this by helping her father, Cid, kidnap Summoners, religious priests of Yevon who summon Aeons to fight Sin and its fiends, while "sending" the spirits of its victims to a peaceful rest, preventing them from becoming fiends as well. All Summoners go on their pilgrimages with a guardian or set of guardians to learn to summon aeons of increasing power, hoping to one day summon the final aeon to bring a "Calm" or a long period of time without Sin. The drawback being that the final summoning has always killed the summoner performing it. Rikku believes that Sin can be defeated for good without a summoner having to give up their life for it.

Her chance to become actively involved in proving this comes when she discovers that her own cousin, Yuna, has become a Summoner and began her pilgrimage. Expectations are high for Yuna, who is the daughter of the last Summoner to defeat Sin. Rikku actively seeks to kidnap Yuna, with the help of Cid, to keep her cousin safe from the ultimate sacrifice. However, she eventually realizes just how determined Yuna is and eventually convinces her father, Cid, to help, and swears herself as one of Yuna's guardians. While she doesn't believe in the blind faith in Yevon that most guardians and summoners swear to (and would never turn her back on Al Bhed ways and join the religious movement herself), she does have the determination to keep Yuna safe until the final summoning, and she hopes to keep her from dying during it as well.

The youngest of Yuna's guardians (at 15 years old), she looks up to Guardian Lulu (her poise and calm make Rikku want to be as elegant when she grows up) and is occasionally dismissed by others. She was once almost refused to be allowed into a temple with the rest of the guardians because of her heritage (as a "heathen"). The only one, besides Yuna (who is only half Al Bhed, without the tell-tale swirled eyes), that she really connected with was Guardian Tidus, who claimed to be from the holy city of Zanarkand that was destroyed thousands of years prior in the first appearance of Sin. She is even at one point reviled by Guardian Wakka after he finds out she is an Al Bhed. During the pilgrimage they discover just how deep the corruption and deceit goes among the leaders and followers of Yevon's teachings, helping to alleviate some of the attitude against Rikku.
(And enter the time-rift of alternate realities)
During the final battle against Sin, a shimmering rip in mid-air appears and, distracted by it, Sin is able to descend on Rikku, swallowing her into oblivion...

Once Upon a Time in Azeroth
While hunting on the coasts of Ashenvale, Niartnelis Ethala'aman spies a motionless body in the stormy ocean waters of the Zoram Strand. Without much thought he dives into the water and pulls a half-drowned Rikku from the waters and drags her to shore. He knows only enough to expel the water from her and bring her into the small village near Astranaar where he and his family reside, letting the priests of Elune do the rest.

Rikku spends the next 5 years among the kaldorei, learning common (as they will not fully teach her their own language), and the ways of this world. She is taken under-wing by Lesara, Niartnelis' sister, for the largest part. Rikku does her part to learn all that she can, her cousin and the other guardians constantly driving her to become independent in this new world, in the hopes of either finding them, or finding her way back home to save Yuna. In the process she does all that she can to repay the kindness shown her by the kaldorei, eventually earning herself quite the reputation with them.

In a combination of good luck, good timing, and skill, Rikku is able to perform a great service to the Kaldorei (at about 19, three years and a few months after arriving), which calls the attention of Tyrande. Rikku is made an honorary kaldorei of sorts and given a truesilver, crescent moon necklace, along with a renaming ceremony in honor of her new status as an adopted kaldorei. She was also sworn to secrecy for the nature of the deed and anything having to deal with it, in the best interests of everyone. It was then that everyone stopped calling her Rikku and began to call her Renawyn Taralom ("Fortunate Outworlder").

For a time she organized a group of people she called the "Outworlders." She began to realize that she was not the only person from another world that had come to Azeroth. She organized this band as a house to all those who had none on Azeroth, hoping to provide shelter and guidance, fellowship and understanding. The house lasted for nearly half a year before Renawyn gave up hope and disbanded it. She continues to offer such things to those from other worlds, but she could no longer stand befriending and losing another Outworlder, trying to keep the cause together with little to no help.

She had resigned herself to traveling Azeroth without a true sense of home or belonging when she ran into yet another Sunpath Rider, exemplifying an honorable and likeable personality. First it was Niburu, then it was two in the deadmines whose names she could no longer recall, and finally Kelindar, who passed on his leader's name when asked. She resolved to speak with the leader of this house, and sought out Shandala, promptly being invited to join their anniversary fire and share in their company that night. Though late, Renawyn attended the fire and less than a week later, saw herself accepted into their house officially.

To this day she still travels all over Azeroth, loyal to the kaldorei and her new house, doing all she can for them. Although she still searches for signs of her cousin and the other guardians, she has not been as active in searching for a way home. Although she wishes for Spira to be saved, to know of Yuna's fate, to see her family again, to see her friends, she cannot turn her back on the new conflicts she has found in Azeroth. More importantly, she feels that, although her destiny is her own, there is a reason that she finds herself on Azeroth and suspects she will likely not be going home until her business here is finished, whatever it is.

Present Day
Rena has recently allied herself with the Sunpath Riders, traveling under their banner, sharing their goals and ideals. Most of the time she is off on missions she remains vague about, though she is always available to help when called. She has recently volunteered for the armed forces of the Silverwing Sentinels in an effort to save the Ashenvale forests from the destructive deforesting of the orcs. She still seeks news of Yuna or one of the other guardians and has added the search for another to her list. The night elf who pulled her from the ocean has gone missing, causing Lesara, his sister, great distress. Mostly she keeps herself busy with missions, hoping to run into information on the way.

Animal friends/pets

Tyngsuuh
Tyngsuuh
A constant companion since Renawyn's 40th season, Tyngsuuh, like all of the large riding sabers, runs from combat. Despite this training, Tyngsuuh is very loyal and often, when Renawyn sleeps outdoors, he curls around her, providing pillow and warmth while watching over her protectively.

Glitchy
Glitchy
Renawyn built glitchy using gnomish plans as a guide early in her 25th season, the little mechanical squirrel is so life-like that Rena treats him as such. He even has a curious personality too!

Lida
Lida.jpg
This beautiful little fearie dragon was given to Rena by a night elf after she worked hard to liberate many of its elders from captivity by taurens. The spunky little hatchling was so cute that Rena could think of no other name for her. "Lida" is the Al Bhed word for cute.
