Help the mud faeries find a home!

As a rule, Ash usually deals with whatever is left behind after a forest fire, turning pieces of burnt wood and ashes into new soil. But since fires are rare, he also works with dried out things, and, on occasion, dead stuff.

Two separate story lines...but with similar connections...

On the one hand we have Stalemate:

Akasha's people, the high elves, are attacked and her and her mother escape

They are chased down, her mother sacrifices herself to save her Akasha

skip to future

Akasha and Alex meet

Get engaged

village attacked and Alex either dies or does not

Eventually, Alex will die.

At that point, Akasha hits her dark stage and winter is discovered

When she gets out of it, with the help of Navianna, and the realization that she can still visit Alex

She assumes her rightful place as the elven nature goddess

She denies both the god of light and goddess of darkness the top through control over her, and instead acts as an intermediary between the two of them.

Her and Alex "live happily ever after" for now

An untitled piece:

Keishiroshin's people, the sylvans, are attacked by similar creatures as Akasha's when he was only 10-17

He alone escapes with a huge scar on himself

Before he was given to playfulness and a lack of seriousness

Now he is given to too much seriousness and berzerker moments

He is found badly wrecked, with broken bones, by Ianna who nurses him back to health

He leaves early and she follows (a human with telepathic ability) against his wishes

They are going on a quest to destroy evil, seek revenge on those who killed Kei's people.

What if......

Kei was half high elf, half human (thus explaining his weakness in magic and telepathic abilities, as well as his more 'normal' (human) ears, and he is one of the few people besides Akasha who escaped the slaughter of the high elves? What if they were part of the same story......

Prologue

Akasha and her mother escape from the slaughter, running from pursuit, mom sacrifices her soul to save her daughter...

Chapter One

We meet Kei...I like both of the story's prologues, but Stalemate is going to focus mainly on Akasha, so that should be its prologue--the one with Akasha in it.

Kei wakes up, after having passed out from wounds given him in battle, but with a fuzzy memory. He is only about 14 Could I have Akasha take the place of Ianna in Kei's story and Kei take the place of Alex???? I might want to try that..... I suppose the only way to know for certain is to start typing it and see if it works??

Hm...pluses to that

+ Kei is way cooler than Alex

+ Kei presents an easier way for Akasha to lose control and kill the man she loves, triggering the next to last stage of her development as the elven nature goddess

+ Kei also presents an easier way to put Akasha in the thick of everything

+ I think I can create more of a bond (quicker) between Kei and Akasha, if Akasha kind of takes the place of Ianna in roles

+ Alex might stay mostly a boy in the minds of the readers whereas Kei will have more of a presence

+ Kei creates more interesting to conflicts to overcome in the story

+ Ooo! In reply to the focus maybe being too much on Kei in the beginning in the drawbacks, I could use that focus to deter the readers from the goings ons of the stories, thus creating more effective twists and surprises about the stories future! Like when a magician does his/her tricks, usually the trick is going on while something else is distracting the audience for an effective illusion!! I like that!

drawbacks...

- At one point in time I'll have two characters with black wings might make it less effective

- I'll have two characters with wings, might make wings seem overdone

- I wanted Kei to be a main character of his own story

- I like Ianna

- I like Alex

- that'll give me two tragic figures in the same story--Kei and Navianna, they'll be a lot alike in attitude.

- Kei is going to be at least 14 years older than Akasha

- Kei's berserker rages may take attention away from the story, and put the focus too much on him

- People may be more interested in Kei than Akasha

Sidenotes...

I suppose I could still keep Ianna and Alex, but as minor characters in the beginning who disappear quickly and fade into the background. I think I really aught to give this a try in writing--I think from now and, that's going to be the only way I'll find out if it's what I want to do ^-^
