 Your Horoscope For Today...
April 19 ,2005

Prompt: Write a piece based on your horoscope for today.

Horoscope: After weeks of trying to keep your mouth under control--and not having much success at it--you finally gave up. The funny thing is, no one but you minded your bluntness. But now, you're about to turn your focus toward home, family matters and all things emotional. Sounds like one of those folks who didn't mind hearing you say exactly what was on your mind has decided to stick around for the long haul.

So, I couldn't do it. I tried so hard it was driving me nuts, honest! It's hard to bite your tongue (and it hurts!) when every part of you is begging you to just be out with it. I decided that it was against my nature to hold my tongue, especially after I realized some trivial, unsaid warning to my little sister proved disastrous (in her world anyway). Now I'm back to brutal honesty, helping her sort out the mess she's made of her relationship with, not only her girlfriend, but Mom and Dad as well. She doesn't express herself very clearly, especially when she worried about being disowned and burned at the stake.

It also didn't help that people kept asking what was wrong with me. I'd laugh it wasn't so unfunny. First I'm told I'm too blunt and need a little more tact, then I'm treated like I'm sick when I decide to make a change.

The good in this story? I've had a crush on this guy in my acting class at college, even though he really irks me at times. He's a little too sure of himself and he brings out the need to knock him down a few pegs in me. I thought he hated me, but he was the first to notice my lack of expression the past few weeks.

He asked me out yesterday, to go to dinner and see a movie after our 4:30 class together. I raised an eyebrow at him, like usual, but kept my retort under reigns. Then he shocked me by saying, "As long as you quit biting your tongue, you're starting to get a scar."

"Really?" I had said. "You don't find me insufferable?" My voice was full of doubt about his intentions, but not without challenge.

"Really. I miss our little dialogue spars."

"Ah, so you're challenging me to a fighting match over dinner?" I laughed.

"If that's what it takes to get you back, you haven't been yourself lately."

"What do you know about me?" I raised an eyebrow at him again, but couldn't help smiling.

"You like a good debate. Other than that, I'm dying to find out more."

So, I guess my quick tongue is not such a bad thing after all. Some men like that need a woman like me to keep them in reality.

FIN

This might actually be an interesting idea for an immediate short instead of a journal-like piece ^_^ I might short-story it someday soon, make the action more immediate and less reflective.
