Surface
November 11 ,2004
She broke the surface and emerged into the new world. It had more depth, more breadth than she'd ever imagined. She could see glowing threads all about her, linking everything in the world. She could see ethereal spirits, some winged, some just translucent and human. Most of all, she could feel them. She was them and they her. It was like the body these thoughts were coming from didn't even exist, everything was her body and it was all inside of her; a part of her.
She inhaled, savoring the connection, feeling whole for the first time in her life. Why had she ever lived life inside the boundaries of her body? Why hadn't she tossed aside her identity earlier, thrown it to the wind with her caution and dived into the great ocean of real life. Life like this. She began to walk, but felt more as though she were drifting along, a spirit instead of a body. Life was beautiful, but at the same time, with this new outlook, she could feel the bad things she did. The parts of her going to war, killing off more parts of her, not understanding that they weren't killing each other, the enemy, they were killing themselves.
The good was a part of her, yes, and it was grand, but the bad was a part of her too. Now was the time for her to change all that, as much as she could before passing on. The bad in her needed to realize that they were only destroying themselves, and innocents along with them.
