Name: Sylvanus Xavier Darius Diancecht Nickname: Sar Sex: Male Age: 23 Physical Description: Straight, sandy brown hair that tapers to his midback with feathery layers that frame his face. Green eyes with flecks of brown, tall stature, about 6'1, and smooth, delicate features more suited to the higher class than a soldier. His skin is a tanned from being on the training field. Education Level: Very high. Trained in combat since he was 10, and given lessons in magic unlawfully by his sister since he was 18. He has also been trained in political matters and such that come with having to rule a country. He has one of the highest educations available in the days, second only to the King himself and perhaps those in the historian, scribing type business. The equivalent of a Junior or Senior in college to us. Occupation/Vocation: At the start of the story he is a soldier and the heir to the throne. Social Class, Status, Wealth: He is at the top of the social class, second only to the King, he has a high status as well, is looked up to with admiration from his people as much as his father is. He has the wealth of the kingdom, no worries ^-^ Marital Status, Children (names, ages, special problems): As of yet he is unmarried and not really looking. A young princess, Ceresta, from a neighboring kingdom has her sights on him but she has yet to turn his eye. Family, Ethnicity: Alive in his immediate family, he has his father, King Aldrich Xanthus Diancecht, and his sister, Princess Tatiana Vivien Sylvette Diancecht (Thana). He has two aunts, one, Morisa Tanith lives in the palace with her son Nalus and daughters Gwenara and Resela. The other, Yestelle Losire, lives with her husband, Gorad and their son Tameth out in the country, on a farm. Tameth is married to Heldrine and they live in the same, rather large house, with his parents. The grandparents are no longer alive. Diction, Accent, etc.: He has very good diction, nearly perfect, but a little less stiff and proper from being in the military for 3 years. He has the accent of his country which is rather like the American accent with a touch of the British dignitaries. Relationships (close friends, mistress. work, etc): He has become rather close to Delrin Terrinta, the only soldier in his farmer's army who isn't too awed or too afraid to speak to him. He is rather close to his father, but closer to his sister, Thana. He doesn't have too much in the way of friends and his horse Clover is very dear to him (a gift from his sister). He and his sister are rather closer to being best friends than siblings. They tell each other everything and are often out together riding, swimming, or getting into mischief when they are near enough to each other to have the chance Places (home - house or appartment, where located, etc; office; car; hang outs): His place of stay lately has been in the military town of Harganon 5 days ride (horse ride that is) from the capital city of Tisloc (his father's kingdom), Argadia. When he is on leave from the military he is at home in Argadia castle. His favourite place to go is a grove of trees near the Tisloc river an hour ride from the castle stables. He goes there whenever he wants to be alone. Special Possessions: A necklace with an arrowhead pendant made of sar, the strongest rock known, and the same one Thana nicknamed him after. She carved it herself (only way to do that is to use another piece of sar), and, unknown to him, filled it with magical protection spells against elemental magic. Clover, another gift from Thana, though he doesn't quite see Clover as a possession, and possibly something from his mother, or something he found that belonged to the prior ruling family that his father conquered for the good of the kingdom (issuing said kingdom into a golden age), I haven't quite figured it out yet so it may be worked in later or I may decide against it. Recreations, Hobbies, Interests: He loves to sit and just enjoy the quite, contemplate things, he's a quite brooder type. he likes to go horse-back riding, writes in his free time, studies nature a lot (he's more of a ranger than a soldier if you will), and has a keen interest in magic, which is partially expected being that he's one of the very few males who possess magical ability (the elemental goddesses usually do not like dealing with males, but Sar's sexual orientation makes him a little different). Obsessions: Magic. The unfairness of society and its constraints and rules that make little sense. Politics: He has a dislike for politics, but is nevertheless involved in them and knows how to use them to his advantage. He doesn't like most of the beliefs and traditions his people hold to, especially the law that dictates that men should have nothing to do with magic and women should have nothing to do with weaponry. Belief System (religious & otherwise): He believes everyone should have a free choice on what they do with their lives, and not waste any gifts they might have simply because tradition dictates it be so. After all, great advantages could be had simply if they let women into the realms of attack magic instead of keeping them at defense and healing types. He believes his country is too prude in such manners and needs updating in tradition. He holds to the belief of the four goddesses of his people (Drisana, Sagara, Aria, and Thera) that rule the elements but he is not devoute, merely curious and more questing around the edges of the teachings of religion. Sexual Orientation, History: Up until the time in the story's start he has had little interest in romantic affairs and doesn't really seem to take notice of that area of his life. He has, at times, taken a woman to bed, times when it was pretty much a matter of politics and expectations, and his country, while prude, does not frown much on out of marriage intimacy. They were times of duty more than enjoyment and the first time he had trouble attempting to get interested in the play. In the very beginning of the story he comes to realize what has always been at the edges of his mind, and while in denial of it at first, will finally accept that he is gay. Ambitions: To do away with the restraining traditions when he becomes King. To rule out the restrictions on women from weaponry and men from magic. He is not a fool though and realizes that the change will be long and grueling for it to be done satisfactorily for most of the people. Superstitions: He doesn't hold much to superstitions and tends to be unaware of any in his country. He sees with his eyes and doesn't believe in fate or anything else intangible. The only reason he gives credit to the goddesses is because of their magic and even then he tends to believe it is more of a natural power to women and some men than it is a gift from higher beings. Fears, Phobias: He has a fear of being found out that he practices magic, that would ruin his reputation and political standing, causing all of his ambitions to come to naught. He is quite uneasy in tight places. And the man has got to have other fears but I'm not gonna sit here racking my brain for them just yet, better to wait to find some that make sense ^-^ Likes, Dislikes, Loves, Hates: He likes magic and learning about it, he likes solitude, but only because it's what he's used to. He dislikes politics, and hates formalities and social standings that get in the way of life. He dislikes anything that does harm to nature, or has a reputation for it. He loves to be in forests and feels most at home there. He dislikes court, loves horse-back riding, and listening to music. He's always wanted to learn to play an instrument of some kind but never had the extra time for it. Attitude About/Towards Others, Life, etc.: He is quite and slow to draw conclusions about people. His quite is mainly to study others. Most of the time he would rather not deal with people and he is kind of going through life like an onlooker for now. He appears to be tranquil, intelligent, and easy-going to others when actually he feels like nothing more than a breeze passing through and being shaped by the walls around it. Strengths & Weaknesses/Flaws: He is a great fighter ranking about 8 out of 10. He is very intelligent and studies things greatly before making moves. He has a gift for magic that ranks about 3 out of 10 and has charm and wit that he knows how to use. However, he is too drawn up into himself, that is he distances himself too much from others and tends to be too much of a loner. He is many times too passive and quick to anger on the subjects he is touchy about (men for fighting women for magic, and romance too). He is often times depressed when Thana is not near to cheer him up, but doesn't show it. He is given to melancholy and brooding. Pets: Clover, though, again she is more than a pet to him. She is closer to being a friend than a pet. Taste in Books, Music, Entertainment: He loves fiction/adventure/legend books/stories about magic mostly, but he really does like books and stories of adventure and legends even if they don't have magic in them. He likes generally all kinds of music but is given more to the songs that match his moods for sound. Songs that sound melancholy or sweetly sad are his favourites. Journal Entries: He is not a faithful journaler, but writes down his thoughts from time to time when he feels he's had new ones worth recording, or some event is noteworthy. So far he has a bound book for the purpose with about 10 or so entries. Correspondence: Mainly Thana, he sends her long letters when they are apart. He also writes his father whenever he plans to send a note to Thana. The correspondence is pretty regular and the notes arrive about every other week to them. Thana writes him back just as frequently and with as much length, and his father sends letters almost identical to the ones he receives--letters merely giving a short report of going-ons, as if they were sending short army reports back and forth to each other, though perhaps with a touch more warmth than an army report. Food Preferences & Dislikes: His favourite foods are spicey foods and usually with little meat in them. He dislikes red meat and can barely stomach seeing them on his plate, let alone eating them. Chicken, fish, and the like do not bother him as much. Handwriting: Very smooth, but simple, no flourishes or fanciness. Astrological Sign: Virgo until further notice Talents, Skills: He is most talented in intelligence, using his brain for things. He is a good fighter, rank 8 of 10 as I said before, and he has a small gift for magic 3/10. He is a fairly good judge of character, and has a pretty high amount of charisma. He has a nack for trail finding and blazing as well. He is skilled with the bow, but normally doesn't use it unless it's for target practice or in battle.
